Objective: To describe the most common causes of login issues and their best solutions
The most common explanations for not being able to Log in or Reset your Password:
You created your account through Facebook
If you connected your Facebook account to the BDV Yow platform, then you will not be able to log into the BDV platform using your email address and password.
This is because your Facebook session is private, secured and external to BDV. We have no control or access to your Facebook password, it only authenticates your user on your behalf.
If you link your BDV account to your Facebook account, you can only log in the same way. And for security reasons, after many failed attempts your account access will be blocked. In this event, you will need to reach out to support to have it unlocked:
Reset Password link is not working
If you clicked several times on the Password Reset link and nothing happens, it could be that you send many requests to the server, one right after the other.
This creates a sort of traffic jam of password reset requests and it gets stuck. If this happens you will need to contact support to have them clear the queue and try again.
There's an Error Message:
There could be many reasons for a Failed Login error message:
Browser Issue: sometimes a browser session will enter a conflict of information. This is quite a common problem, but there are many ways to troubleshoot it:
- Use Incognito mode
This mode is available in all newer browsers and allows you to browse privately. It doesn't use any cache or cookies stored to load the websites. How to enter incognito mode:
- MOZILLA FIREFOX (or for quick access: Ctrl+Shift+P)
- CHROME (or for quick access: Ctrl+Shift+N)
- MICROSOFT EDGE (or for quick access: Ctrl+Shift+P)
- Internet Explorer: Settings > Safety > InPrivate Browsing (or press Ctrl+Shift+P)
- Try a different browser
If you have another browser installed on your system, try opening the website with that one. The Windows operating system includes Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge
- If you are not already using those, you could test the webpage on them.
Alternatively, you can download one of the many free browsers available on the internet.
- Try a mobile device
If a browser on your computer does not work, try using a smartphone or tablet, if available. All of our websites can be reached from mobile devices.
- Clear browsing history
Your browsing history contains a record of websites that you visited previously. This is done to speed up the process next time you want to visit those websites.
However, if the information is outdated or corrupt, it can lead to display issues.
Also, clearing the history helps to make way for new pages and to remove unwanted ones.
If the issue continues after trying these troubleshooting steps, please contact support:
Remember that if you sign up to BDV using Facebook, you can only login this way from this point onward. Password reset requests do not work for this type of accounts.
